Phu Xuan University organizes monthly exams for obtaining certificates for domestic and international tour guides on the 15th and 30th of each month.

Things to Know to Obtain an International Tour Guide Card:

– The applicant for the international tour guide card should submit the application to the Department of Tourism/Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

– Within 15 days from the date of receiving a valid application, the Department of Tourism/Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism issues the international tour guide card to the applicant. In case of refusal, a written response must be provided, clearly stating the reason.

– The application can be sent directly or by mail to the Department of Tourism/Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

– Application Documents:

(1) Application form for the international tour guide card (Form No. 11, Appendix II issued with Circular No. 06/2017/TT-BVHTTDL on December 15, 2017).

(2) Curriculum vitae with confirmation from the People's Committee at the commune level of the applicant's residence.

(3) Health certificate issued by an authorized medical facility, valid for no more than 6 months from the submission date.

(4) Documents proving the educational qualifications:

Certified copy of a diploma from college or higher in the field of tour guiding; or Certified copy of a diploma from college or higher in another field and a certified copy of the international tour guide professional certificate.

(5) Documents proving language proficiency:

Certified copy of one of the following documents:

– Diploma from college or higher in a foreign language major;

– Diploma from college or higher in a program taught in a foreign language;

– Diploma from college or higher obtained abroad;

– Certificate or proof of language proficiency at Level 4 or higher in the 6-level language competence framework used in Vietnam or Level B2 or higher in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The document should be valid or issued within 5 years for certificates without a specified expiration date, issued by an authorized organization or agency according to the regulations in Appendix I of Circular No. 06/2017/TT-BVHTTDL on December 15, 2017.

Diplomas, certificates, and certifications issued by foreign training institutions must be recognized according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs.

(6) Two color passport-size photos (3 cm x 4 cm).

– Number of Application Sets: 01 (one set).

Requirements:

(1) Vietnamese nationality, permanent residence in Vietnam.

(2) Sufficient civil behavior capacity.

(3) Free from infectious diseases, no drug use.

Fee:

650,000 VND/card (Circular No. 33/2018/TT-BTC on March 30, 2018, of the Minister of Finance).

Legal Basis:

– Tourism Law No. 09/2017/QH14 dated June 19, 2017, effective from January 1, 2018.

– Circular No. 06/2017/TT-BVHTTDL dated December 15, 2017, of the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism detailing some provisions of the Tourism Law. Effective from February 1, 2018.

– Circular No. 33/2018/TT-BTC dated March 30, 2018, of the Minister of Finance regulating the fees for assessing and granting licenses for international travel business services, domestic travel business services; fees for assessing international tour guide cards; fees for granting licenses for establishing branches and representative offices of foreign travel businesses in Vietnam. Effective from May 14, 2018.

For the domestic tour guide card, applicants only need to graduate from a tourism major at the intermediate level or hold a certificate for domestic tour guides and do not require language certificates.
